You’ll wear many hats – from assisting with HR and administrative duties to coordinating projects and supporting various teams (content, tech, marketing) in their operations. By working closely with our Operations and HR staff, you’ll gain exposure to all facets of running a company and help build a strong, efficient, and mission-aligned culture. The internship is remote with a flexible timeline, and you’ll receive dedicated mentorship to develop your management and leadership skills in a real-world environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support: Help with daily administrative tasks such as managing calendars, scheduling team meetings, and organizing virtual events or webinars. Ensure meetings are set up (via Zoom/Teams) and agendas are prepared in advance.
Project Coordination: Assist in tracking project progress across departments. Update project management tools or spreadsheets, send reminders for deadlines, and make sure teams have the resources they need to meet their goals. You’ll act as a hub of information to keep everyone aligned.
HR & Recruiting Assistance: Support our HR efforts by organizing internship applications, scheduling interviews with candidates, and helping onboard new team members. You might coordinate welcome documents, set up accounts, or schedule training sessions for new interns.
Workflow Optimization: Identify and suggest improvements to internal processes. For example, if you notice a task that could be automated or a communication gap between teams, you’ll work on solutions (perhaps creating a how-to guide or proposing a new tool). Help document standard operating procedures (SOPs) so our operations run more smoothly.
Customer Support Liaison: Assist in handling incoming inquiries from users or partners. This could involve monitoring a support email inbox or forum, responding to common questions, and forwarding more complex issues to the relevant team member. Ensure that all inquiries receive timely and helpful responses.
Data and Record Management: Maintain important records and databases, such as tracking user feedback, maintaining contact lists, or keeping an inventory of content and resources. Ensure data is organized and up-to-date, and generate simple reports as needed (e.g., summarizing user feedback trends for the team).
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with different departments to coordinate interdependent tasks. For instance, you might help the content and marketing teams align on a publishing schedule, or coordinate with the tech team when a new feature launch requires support documentation or announcements. You’ll learn to facilitate communication across a diverse team.
General Operational Tasks: Be ready to jump in wherever needed! This could range from researching a tool or service we might use, to helping prepare a presentation for a team meeting, to planning a small virtual team-building activity. Every day can be a bit different in operations.
What You Will Learn:
Organizational Management: How the gears of a small company turn. You’ll gain insight into business operations, learning how tasks are prioritized and executed to keep the organization running efficiently.
Project & Time Management: Hone your ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and keep projects on track. By coordinating various tasks and deadlines, you’ll develop strong project management skills and learn to use tools like Trello, Asana, or others we utilize.
HR and Onboarding: Experience the basics of human resources in a startup context. You’ll learn how recruitment processes work, how to effectively onboard new team members, and the importance of company culture.
Communication Skills: Because you’ll interact with every department, you’ll improve your professional communication – learning to convey information clearly, run effective meetings, and collaborate with colleagues across different functions.
Problem-Solving: Develop a proactive mindset for troubleshooting everyday challenges. Whether it’s resolving a scheduling conflict or finding a more efficient way to handle a task, you’ll practice creating solutions and thinking on your feet.
Mentorship in Leadership: Work under the guidance of our Operations Manager or COO, who will mentor you in strategic thinking and leadership. You’ll get feedback and coaching on how to make decisions and drive improvements in an organization.
Industry Exposure: By being at the center of operations, you’ll naturally learn about all aspects of MPJReview’s work – from how we create content to how we market and deliver our services. This broad exposure will give you a well-rounded understanding of the ed-tech and healthcare education space, valuable for any career path.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, or a related field. (Students in healthcare or pharmacy with an interest in operations/administration are also encouraged to apply.)
Organization & Reliability: Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail. You should be someone who enjoys making to-do lists, keeping things orderly, and can be relied upon to follow through on tasks.
Strong Communicator: Good written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable reaching out to others for information, and able to write clear, professional emails and documents.
Tech & Tools: Proficient with common productivity software (e.g. Google Workspace or MS Office suite). Willingness to learn new collaboration and project management tools. Experience with spreadsheets and basic data analysis is a plus.
Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new challenges and handle a variety of tasks, big or small. You’re proactive, resourceful, and not afraid to ask questions or seek out information when needed.
Team Player: A collaborative attitude with the ability to work independently when required. You take initiative but also know when to seek guidance.
Interest in Our Mission: Genuine interest in education, technology, or healthcare. Being excited about what MPJReview does will help you stay motivated and make a bigger impact in the role.
